About the release

“Sugar” is a hidden Strobe vault gem pairing Jazil, aka Ron Allen, with Toronto vocalist Kolor Brown across four deep, techy and soulful house mixes.

Unearthed from the Strobe archives, “Sugar” pairs Ron Allen’s Jazil alias with Toronto vocalist Kolor Brown. Hypnotic grooves, warm low-end pressure and subtle machine funk create a deep, tech-rooted setting for Brown’s raw, emotive vocal.

The four mixes give DJs several ways into the song, from the extended Glucose Mix to Uncle Abner’s interpretation, Uncle Ron’s Dub and the Lost Peach Mix. The package is restrained, immersive and aimed at dancers who value mood over hype. “Sugar” proves the best underground records do not age out of the crate—they wait for the right room and the right selector.
